Nonetheless, he intends to return an assassin to the Wastelands where, they will question him or her to reveal the location of Aelfric and subsequently his connection to Guido Oskey.
The Wastelords contend that Oskey is plotting to kill Count Drake. This is grounded in the knowledge that the Count will not support Oskey's scheme to revive the notorious Arch Mage Gracchus Dio.
However the Wastelords will not openly move against Guido Oskey, a highly trusted ally of Count Drake, until they can definitively prove his treachery. They believe that by seizing Aelfric they can at once rid the Wizard's Council of an arch enemy, reveal Oskey's intentions and further establish their authority over the Wastelands (now being challenged by the Red Wyrm Xanthax). Moreover, Stromm, increasing in power, sees an opportunity to rid himself of Oskey, his chief rival within the Sorcerer's Faction of the Wizard's Council.
Previously, the Wastelords offered to reward the heroes with a vast sum of gold to dispose of Guido Oskey. This offer still stands but, they propose the above course of action first so as to reveal Oskey's treachery to the both the Count and the Wizard's Council that he can never return to their service. Once cast as a traitor he will be hunted throughout the lands no matter his chances of revival.
