Aleska Ain't no Julia Child or The Possession of Aleska
Scene: Interior, Aleska’s home/workshop
Alaska cooks and serves a hardy breakfast, but seems a bit strange. Like he’s there, but he’s not there. (Just the way I feel after I take a Xanax, also known as Alprazolam.)
Everybody does a sense motive. Alaska acting weird. M. notices that some of mushrooms are mostly white but have some strange green on them. We figure they are Death Cap mushrooms. Alaska seems to be in a daze: suddenly he casts stone skin on himself.
Everyone rolls initiative: Y 29 . P. 19 M. 18 A. 16 D. 16
Y. moves (slinks away) to upper corner area NE corner next to shelves stacked with sacks and (you guessed it) hides!
P. moves to the door and readies in action: (reading to FLEE no doubt) if A. attacks readies an arrow.
M. (the only one who doesn’t move AWAY from A.) moves to A. and successfully grapples him with unmatchable ferocity and strength. A. tries to cast a spell and he does. A. teleports out of the room.
D. looks around and readies in action: the spell Moon Bolt. he’ll shoot if A. shows himself. Y. says “A. is gone, and we are up against some pretty powerful enchanters. “ (Thanks for the update there, champ.)
We figure that A was under a spell. enchanted.
Suddenly, acting on his half-orc senses and knowing A’s penchant for brooding in dark, musty rooms, M. runs over and with his GREAT great axe (officially signed by Grun himself) smashes at A’s double oak doors which are heavily latched and breaks the doors open with such brut strength that the other members of his party almost dive for cover. ( 25 dam on the doors) and seeing A in the room yells out, “He’s here!.
D. casts his readied in action: Moon Bolt. (a ray) A’s fort. save is enough to take half damage. 5 points of st. dam. halved = (2,5) then A winks out again.
A. casts greater invisibility and disappears. M. does a percep. but can’t see find him. Y. can scent within 30 feet, but A is not within 30 ft. Y. moves and can see into the room from his position.
P. does percep. 25. can’t see anything. moves next to M. and readies bow to shoot. M. perception: fails. Mad. tells P. “Do not let anything out of this room.” and moves into the room. We catch a faint incantation flowing through the air and with a great “Whoosh!” a fireball erupts in the middle of the room. Our reflex saves roll our way and luckily we take no damage.
perc. checks again but can’t find A.
Can’t pinpoint his location but know he’s somewhere toward the back of the room because of the verbal component from the fireball spell.
Next up Draganass......
P.S.
Thanks for helping Mad Dog Madak level up!
Hope the notes help.

The Man in the Fez
We leave Maxine’s Utter after midnight we go to Aleska’s place and got healed up. Yedenzic says we should be careful not to go out cause if we are being scried on we will keep being attacked.
All agree so, lizard man Yedenzic and Prolth go on a stealth mission. Yedenzic disguises himself as an half-ling and Prolth as a big-nosed old lady. They move stealthily to the Pig’s Whistle.
Place is well lit. P. does hand singles to Y. to peak into the window and peaks himself.
They see a drunk person by the fire wearing a red fez and sunglasses with a slit and the barman washing dishes. The man is wearing winter-like clothes with a heavy cloak on the barstool next to him, dagger, backpack overflowing with camping gear.
Prolth goes in and sits next to him. He pushes Prolth away and says leave. Prolth says I am a man. He says leave or you will feel pain. Prolth gets punched in the face (16 pts. of damage) and a fortitude save. P. gets stunned.
The man gets his gear to leave. Yedenzic draws his bow (4 arrows). Y. is ten feet away from the front door. Fez man walks to the door and opens the door. Y. waits for him to come out. All four arrows have Drow poison on them.
P. stands up and propositions the barman who tells him to get out. P. goes to the door. Fez man looks at P. and steps out the door. 15 feet away from Y. Y. shoots: 29, 28, 30 1. three hits and a fumble check (76) wrong judgement, opponent gets +4 to next attack. Drow poison dc 14. Dam: 43. Fez man does 3 successful fortitude save.
Fez man runs at Y. Fez goes invisible and Y. hears a nois as Fez goes to the roof of the tavern. Y. gets 55 on stealth and tries to climb up to the roof with a 20 and just gets to the edge of the roof.
P. goes out the door, perception chech 38, sees Y. on the roof and hears Fez man up there too. Pulls out the scroll to call Madak. I recognize P.’s voice and say on our way.
P. and Y. do perception checks but hear and see nothing. Y. delays to after P. P. does another perc. check (nothing) and climbes up on the roof (22) but not to the crest. This is a one-story tavern with 2-story buildings around. Y. can’t do anything.
Y. n P. perce. check. Y. hears (two rooftops away) clinking of tiles to the west and tells P. who runs in that direction -percep. (36) and hears moving on rooftops. P. running on the rooftops loudly at full movement. Y. follows at full movement stealthily. Percep. (27, 35) Fez man has moved a fair distance (Y. hears), he’s moving faster than Y. and P.
(Backtrack): Mad wakes up Drag. and Drag tires to wake up Aleska but there is no reply. We run toward the Pig’s Whistle.
P. gets a nothing on his perception and goes back toward the Pig’s Whistle loudly and people open windows and call out for the city guard. Y. does a track (36) full round action. Y and P don’t hear anything on their perception checks. Mad and Drag hear comotion in the distance.
Prolth climbes down when he gets to the Pig’s Whistle. Y. picks up Fez man’s tracks on the roof. Y follwos tracks for half a movement then lose them. Y hears nothing with percep. check. Mad and Drag still running. We all hear the city guard whistle being blown and clinking of armor.
P. percep check (31) and ducks into a shadow and changes into a human guy and walks into the Pig’s Whistle. P. goes to place where Fez man sat at the bar and does a search . tabacco, long grey hairs from his coat, his glass mug and P. does a slight of hand and steals those items and orders a drink and goes to the front door and opens it.
Y. 32 survival and picks up Fez’s tracks who has moved in a straight line.
Mad and Drag move to Pig’s Whistle and anlther city guard is moving there. We step outside and act drunk and P. tells us everything. Drag said he can scrie with those items. P. says lets go back to Aleska’s.
Barman comes out looking for human and we say he went down the lane and he runs off. We move back toward Aleska’s as the city guard moves toward Pig’s Whistle.
Door at Aleskas is wide open, but Aleska is still sleeping.
Y. finds where Fez has jumped down and does survival check (34) and follows the tracks stealily. Comes to main road which leads to the warehouse area and market area. (59) to follow.
P. gives evidence to Drag. to scrie. Drag. does knowledge nature (34) . Long gray hair from a Mt. wolf. which inhabit sunrise mountains , Large size (made from the hide of a Mt. wolf). so he’s prob. tough. also have mug with lip prints and three cig. stubs. P.and Drag. go to sleep.
Mad wakes up an hour later concerned bout Y.
Y. follows tracks. (33) stealth (51) follows behind a warehouse: Azeme’s Emporium in warehouse district on Market street to a barred door. Y. comes back to Aleska’s and tells Mad everything.

The No-Action Game: Saying Goodbye to Donzabel, AGAIN!
Monday, December 5, 2011
Cats in the Marketplace--or--Why DonZAbel really should have embraced pacifism this time around
Once again Prolth's superior intelligence had assessed the situation and he had immediately taken the action necessary. He, Madak, and Ydenzyk had just been joyously reunited with a resurrected DonZAbel and the gnome that had made that possible, good Aleska. Prolth knew that a conference was in order, there were topics that needed to be discussed and plans that needed to be made, but that would be hard to do with far too many ears around them. And so Prolth danced. He danced a jig that far out-jigged the kinds of jigs these somber Sombarians were used to, and topped it all off with his ever-charming Pan pipe playing. This of course gathered a crowd and not a small number of coins at his feet--these Prolth entrusted to a somewhat slow man that was eager to speak with an entertainer of Prolth's caliber. Sent on his mission to provide ale and bread for all those gathered, the man set off to the sound of Prolth's clapping and heartfelt proclamation of his new mayorship--we all need to feel good about ourselves from time to time--followed by nearly all of the other villagers who had been gathered in the marketplace. They now had the privacy they needed.
Yet for some reason his comrades failed to follow Prolth behind the building where he wished to speak with them and remained in the center of the market, gawking lamely and milling about. Ydenzyk had the good sense to go and hide himself, keeping his eyes on the suspicious layabout near the deck, but Madak, DonZAbel, and Aleska stood there with their hands in their metaphoric pockets, chewing the cud as it were. Realizing that only his superior leadership could salvage the situation, Prolth quietly moved back towards the group; it was then that Fortune smiled on him as she often does on her favored creatures, the satyrs. Prolth noticed that the woman standing near the stall was nodding in a conspiratorial way at the man near the deck, in a way that indicated to him that she was not at all what she seemed. Wasting no time, Prolth reached for his magically baned mace and swung through the air near her with enough force to make his point but not enough to hurt the woman should the blow have landed. Startled, she cried out in a falsetto so false that Prolth's worst doubts were confirmed.
Madak, seeing what had happened, called out to Prolth asking what was going on. Prolth informed him that the woman and the man were evil spies and ne'er-do-wells, information which sent Madak into a howling rage and caused him to charge at the woman, swinging wildly with his greataxe. Yet even the mighty Madak missed his mark, this was a foe indeed. Battle had been joined.
The lounger near the deck now started lopping towards the group still in the center of the marketplace, joined by what appeared to be a little girl, heading straight towards DonZAbel, his wolf Gorak, and Aleska. Hedging his bets, DonZAbel turned himself into a canary and took flight, chirping happily in an apparent bid to amuse his attackers, and ordering Gorak to stand his ground should he be attacked. Aleska, on the other hand, reached into his magical bag and produced out of it a creature of awesome skills and power, a mechanical Xill that he called Igor and that looked like its four arms could slice through just about anything. Ydenzyk, quietly watching all this from his hiding place near the building with the deck, waited for his chance to strike.
The woman flanked by Madak and Prolth squealed some nonsense about being innocent and rushed to the other side of the stall, getting a taste of Madak's potent greataxe as she went. The blade cut deep but seemed to not do the damage it might. Prolth, ready once more to defend his allies and promote justice for the downtrodden as he wrought havoc on evil oppressors everywhere, fearlessly and without heed for his own safety drew his bow and struck the little girl with an arrow that pierced deep into her flesh. He was not afraid of this female child.
Aleska took to the air, flying above the now bright yellow DonZAbel, and ordered Igor into the combat. Gorak growled and prepared to bite as the man and girl in front of him suddenly metamorphosed into hissing cat-men armed with swords and wearing shields. The woman near the stall changed into a similar creature, hideous to behold in her feline frenzy, unarmed but blistering with magic. She pulled a scroll from her bag and cast a mighty fireball on the group in the market, scorching a helpless civilian along with the party, and then moved to crouch behind a nearby building.
DonZAbel, Gorak, and Igor took the brunt of the damage, while Aleska managed to dodge most of it and Madak elegantly avoided all of the blast. DonZAbel struck back with a lightning storm on the wretched sorceress, doing mighty natural damage to her. Madak moved in to strike at one of the cat-men, his axe's sharp edge finding home but then somehow, inexplicably, dropped to the ground. Gorak lay unconscious on the ground, his soft breathing reminding DonZAbel of how he looked in sleep, and his canary heart filled with affection for his animal lover. Igor too struck out at a cat-man, but the damage done was not what one would expect it to be, and Prolth's arrow too failed to find its mark this time. Aleska's magic missiles, however, did not, and burned into one of the cat-men.
Ydenzyk then acted with the ferocity common to his kind, unleashing a flurry of arrows into the sorceress and doing terrible harm to her. She answered with another raging fireball that consumed DonZAbel, Gorak, and Igor completely. A pair of tears rolled from Prolth's eyes as he saw DonZAbel, only just brought back to life a mere week ago, once more slain in the midst of battle. At least this time he died with his beloved, though not, unfortunately, snuggled amidst Gorak's legs. Madak struck out, bringing down a cat-man with the terrible might of his vegenance, Aleska once more hit back with his magic missiles, and Ydenzyk let loose another storm of arrows that sent the sorceress cat-woman to her goddess. Prolth, taking careful aim from a hidden position to make the most of his stunning marksmanship, drew and released an arrow that was shot so skillfully one could easily have mistaken it for magic. Prolth's arrow splintered through the remaining cat-man's shield, entered through his eye and came to a stop deep in his head, bringing down the last remaining foe.
Satisfied with the sound of the approaching city guard, whom Prolth had been calling on the remaining stunned villagers to summon, the party looted the bodies of the dead and then informed the newly arrived guardsmen of Prolth's heroism in discovering such vile evil-doers who had somehow infiltrated the good city of Sombar, and the party's prowess in dispatching them. The day had once more been won, but the party mourned the loss of their druid friend, his wolven life partner, and Aleska's latest creation. A bittersweet sensation filled Prolth, and he knew that this would not be the last they saw of these cat-like creatures.
